This Is For Vicki

I love, love, love my Copic markers!!! I do not know what took me so long to finally get them! I've known for quite some time how alcohol inks work; there have been projects posted here using Ranger/Tim Holtz alcohol inks to make background papers, etc. So why would I miss the notion that alcohol inks in pens would be the MOST BRILLIANT idea that anyone has ever come up with? You got me... but I did!!! And looking at my FIRST copic project, I am KICKING myself! Honestly it's mostly because of how EASY they are to use. This project took me half the time to complete as the project that I completed using my Stampin Up markers. The blending is effortless and the colors are DEEP but translucent. Where other dye-based markers cover up details, these Copics just sort of swim around them. I DO need a little more practice... this was just my first project, but expect MANY more posts on these wonderful Copics as I complete more projects, add more Sketch markers to my collection and dive into the world of participating in challenges. These are a fun new toy that has TRULY lit a fire!!!

*** I have been planning to make the card pictured since I saw Vicki's Kraftin Kimmie's Charlotte card! To check out this card (and so many OTHER amazing cards of Vicki's) run, don't walk, over to Vicki's blog: Summerthyme Studio. I'd also like to thank Jeanne Streiff for her wonderful Charlotte card that she did as well (I swiped your layout)! You can see more of Jeanne's work over at Inky Paws... she has some really great tutorials there as well! :)

Inking Pink Blog Hop

Hi Hoppers! Danielle, a.k.a. FitterTwit here.... so glad you made it!!! If you're mid-hop, you should be arriving here from Chelsea's blog . Was that a great project or what!?! If you're just joining us and need to start the hop from the beginning, you're gonna want to head over to our lovely Hop Hostess Patricia's blog to start the fun here on our VERY IMPORTANT Inking Pink Blog Hop! Here's to Breast Cancer Awareness!!! My project for this hop is a reminder card..."Remember your checkups!" What a wonderful way to say "I love you" to a dear friend or family member. Now you may not be able to see it in the pic above, but I altered The Greeting Farm's Ebony so that her tee shirt reads, "Say YES to Mammograms!" So, today I wanted to share HOW I added the words to her tee. First I printed the words as small as I could and still be able to read the message using my laser printer onto the paper that I would be using to color in my im...

Gorgous Leaves Bundle Revisited

Yestday's Freebie Friday on a Monday projects were so fun and this set is SO BEAUTIFUL in it's simplicity!  It reminds me of a long-retired stamp set from Stampin Up!.  I was inspired to re-create the projects that I made with it once upon a time.  So here we go.... SIMPLE projects when you need a quick "hello" or an even quicker heartfelt sympathy card: I was DEFINITELY on a Bumblebee and Cajun Craze kick yesterday!  I can't stop/won't stop!  LOL!  To be fair... I had extra leaves die cut and didn't want anything to go to waste!  A quick speckle backdrop in Bumblebee then a quick "hello" greeting from the Biggest Wish in Cajun Craze with the Cajun Craze leaf popped up on a Basic White cardbase.  PERFECTION! Okay, as with yesterday's projects, the sentiment is from the recently retired SAB Delicate Dahlia's set, but you could use ANY sympathy sentiment you have in your stash.  Unlike in the past when I had to mask off the center rectangle...

Maple Syrup vs. Honey

I did a post a while back about the nutritious sweetener for the lemonade on the Master Cleanse: maple syrup ! In fact, for quite some time now it has been my only sweetner (well, that and agave nectar... YUM!). But why maple syrup... isn't honey the magical sweetener? First, let's consider where both come from. One comes from a tree and the other comes from flowers, but is predigested and then regurgitated by a bee. Can you guess which is which??? hahahaha ! Really though, just the idea that an insect's already digested nectar from a flower lends to the idea that the nectar is already devoid of nutrients when it's vomited back up. Isn't that the whole point of digestion? To pull the nutrients from whatever it is you have ingested. So is it safe to say that honey is a bi product ? Or even a waste material? I would certainly call MY vomit a waste material... what about you? But beyond the gross visual I now have in my head of honey, I also have a real concern about ...
