Halloween Music

I spent this past weekend listening to Halloween music while decorating my house. Every year the Halloween festivities in my house starts in September and runs well past October 31st, so I need quite a bit of music to make it through this holiday season. I thought I would share with you my Halloween playlists (yes, I have more than one.... you're probably guessing right now that I'm a FREAK for Halloween) to get you through the holiday as well. HALLOWEEN PARTY Anything from the Rocky Horror Picture Show Monster Mash of course Ghost Busters The entire Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack That Old Black Magic Witchcraft.... CLASSIC CANDY GIVING - aside from the GREAT creepy sound clip cd's (creeking doors, witches laughing, etc.) there are some really great instrumental Halloween cd's that'll conjure memories and make all the ghoulies smile. Charlie Brown Theme Twilight Zone Theme Jaws Theme (this one makes me laugh... hard!) Psycho soundtrack Friday the 13th soundtr...

The Old Clunker

A few years back I received a Creative Zen Micro Photo for Christmas. It was wonderful! The fact that I could finally carry around all my music in a super small (or I thought at the time)2.25" x 3.5" music player was sheer freedom from carrying around that old, large, portable cd player and I won't even go into the tons of music cds that also had to go along for the ride. Ok... so I'll mention them briefly, hahahahaha! And I was also surprised by how much lighter this music player was. At 5.5 oz., wearing it fashionably on an armstrap to the gym put me in the leagues with the top fitness buffs. Then something shifted... I was no longer hip, or in, or cool anymore. Suddenly everything shrunk and my music player was now a gigantic dinosaur! What the heck?!? Now everyone was sporting music players that were as big as the face of a watch and were a million times lighter than mine. All of a sudden I was back in the 7th grade trying to convince my mom to buy me the latest ...

The Beat Goes On...

I did a really fun blog post with my personal workout playlist and since that post have received some suggested playlist songs. I loved them so much they were immediately added! Here they are: Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart (DUH!!! Why didn't I think of this one before??? THIS is the song to make you sweat!!!) Outkast - BOB (another really great song to get your heart pumping. There is just something about this singer... his voice just sounds fun! I feel like I'm really having fun when I hear this song for some reason) Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (Ok, this one is a WOW! There's something magical about hearing "feel good" over and over while you're working out. I almost feel like I'm reprogramming myself.. what! What's up?) ACDC - Thunderstruck (this is another one that I just kind of have to ask myself why I didn't remember how completely awesome this song is! Songs like this always make me feel strong when I hear them!) Greenday - American Idiot ...

It Has a Beat And You Can Sweat To It..

Generally speaking, I like music from all genres. Some days you'll catch me listening to classical, other days I'm listening to country. But during workouts, I've gotta have a beat. The rhythm has got to match my heart rate which, if I'm having a good workout, is somewhere between 130-160. I'm sorry but in this particular situation classical, country... not even alternative music is going to do the trick. So I went in search of "My Ultimate Playlist". The songs that inspire me to work and sweat. These are the songs that make it fun. But where did I start? That one's easy; it had to have a beat. Then it had to inspire me to workout in one form or another. Here is my playlist. Feel free to steal it! I will attach little notes as to why I chose that particular song. 1. Justin Timberlake, SexyBack and Damn Girl. The rhythms for these songs are amazing, but more importantly these songs remind me why I'm working out in the first place. 2. Rihanna, Don...
