Gadget Girl Out of the Kitchen!

Yep! Gadget girl strikes again! This time the gadget isn't for my kitchen... it's actually a tool I got as an early birthday present to monitor my health and fitness (yes... I begged!). I am suddenly a walking science exeriment! This little (and I mean little... 2" x 1.75") gadget straps to your arm and electronically monitors your energy output. With the included program (I got a 12 month subscription), you input your energy consumption and this little miracle calculates, tracks and utilizes your data to propel you toward your health and fitness goals! Introducing my newest obsession: The BodyBugg! There are plenty of resources out there to gather the specifications on this unit and like a million more for reviews, but the most helpful resource that I found was from an instructor that I adore. Ms. Chalene Johnson, the maker of Turbo Jam, gave a superb review of this gadget and convinced me that this little gem would be the tool that would teach me how my body works a...

Gratuitous Dancing

Ok folks! Life is NOT like High School Musical... unfortunately. People do not break out in song and dance at pivotal moments throughout their day. That is unfortunate too because song and dance is so good for the soul. Fortunately, we DO have workout DVD's. I hate that we call them that. While most do a great job of working up a sweat, some DVD's are more like a dance party. Popping in certain DVDs elicits gratuitous dancing. So far I have Slim in Six, Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs. I love them all! I really think that Beachbody.com has hit the jackpot... they seem to be one of the few fitness companies to actually understand that if you're REALLY having fun, you will stick with it... and it really is all about the instructor. You just cannot find the caliber of instructors like you find a...

I'm Such a Kid... Again!

As of late I'm finding myself focusing on the fun of working out. Actually, truth be told, I look for the fun in everything hence the blog name... LOL! But I'm noticing the workouts that I WANT to do are the one's that make me feel like a kid again. I now have two such workouts that I want to share with you. These workouts turn exercise into playtime and I LOVE them! Some months back I attended a Body Flow class at my gym that I lovingly call Yogalachi. Body flow is the mix of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. Sounds like it should be difficult, but that is exactly what made it so fun. The Body Flow moves really make you focus on balance and really develops your core. When you're successful you feel a great sense of accomplishment, when you're not, you feel a great sense of, "hey, I'm seven years old again!" I have NEVER laughed harder when working out (which, by the way, increases the fat burn). I noticed the first time I took the class that even the instru...
