The Book Day 3

Ok, I'm back with the last part of the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante book preview! I'm skipping page 4 of the book because I'm going to be using it for a tutorial here over the upcoming weekend, but lets kick start with page 5.

Page 5 was simple to do using my Cricut, my Gypsy and the Storybook cartridge to create this gorgeous frame. This page is really for anything, stamping, journaling, pictures.... anything. In fact, the theme for this page is "Be Anything".

The page 6 theme is "Be Accomplished". This vintage ledger sheet in the Steampunk Debutante line was perfect just the way it was. I inked the edges, but otherwise, did nothing else to embellish this page. I figured a nice list of accomplishments would be all the embellishment this page needs!

How many of us passed notes in school? How many times were those notes more about the intricate paper folds and less about the note themselves? It's amazing to me how most of the skills I learned in grade school are so applicable to my scrapbooking hobby today. With all the coloring and paper cutting, paper folding and glue sticks.... yah, scrapbooking really does get me in touch with my inner 7 year old! Come to think of it, it's pretty much the same only the glue doesn't taste as good as I remember. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, page 7 was made using an old grade-school-note-fold technique using specially folded paper to hide a journaling tag on top of paper that features very retro looking stamps to say "Be Retro".. I then "glimmer misted" more flowers, embellished them and then glued them HALF WAY to the center up to the fold of the front of the sheet to allow the flower to overlap the other side of the sheet when folded together. I might do a tutorial on that one at a later date as well, if requested. On to page 8.

The last page (page 8) is actually the inside of the back cover of the album and like the front cover, the back cover is an envelope. So I notched the envelope of the back cover as I did to the front cover to reveal a hidden tag. I also used a smaller Graphic 45 Vintage envelope as an embellishment for the page,as well as for the hidden tag, by cutting off the envelope flap and gluing it to the tag to use as a pull. I then cut a slit in the top of the envelope opening up the side of the envelope to create a "pocket" for another, smaller tag. I used another die cut tag featured in the Steampunk Debutante line. I finished off the bottom of the page with a border from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante sticker page. The definition of "unique" running across the bottom of the page tie back in with the cover of the book.... "Be Unique".

The visual elements of this Steampunk Debutante line are INCREDIBLE to say the least. It's very clear why "Steampunk" is so popular and I gotta say that Graphic 45's interpretation has NAILED IT! I adore this line and am DEFINITELY working on stocking up. I'm guessing that the Graphic 45 Christmas line is going to be just as fun to work with and will create an AMAZING Christmas book. You can see this book in real life at the Paper Vineyard as it will be showcased.

Gorgous Leaves Bundle Revisited

Yestday's Freebie Friday on a Monday projects were so fun and this set is SO BEAUTIFUL in it's simplicity!  It reminds me of a long-retired stamp set from Stampin Up!.  I was inspired to re-create the projects that I made with it once upon a time.  So here we go.... SIMPLE projects when you need a quick "hello" or an even quicker heartfelt sympathy card: I was DEFINITELY on a Bumblebee and Cajun Craze kick yesterday!  I can't stop/won't stop!  LOL!  To be fair... I had extra leaves die cut and didn't want anything to go to waste!  A quick speckle backdrop in Bumblebee then a quick "hello" greeting from the Biggest Wish in Cajun Craze with the Cajun Craze leaf popped up on a Basic White cardbase.  PERFECTION! Okay, as with yesterday's projects, the sentiment is from the recently retired SAB Delicate Dahlia's set, but you could use ANY sympathy sentiment you have in your stash.  Unlike in the past when I had to mask off the center rectangle

Amazon... What Is Wrong?

So, you live and you learn. I did a GREAT review for The Kindle the other day. In fact, I did the review touting how WONDERFUL The Kindle was compared to The Nook... well, I just so happened to have written that post the day after I ordered The Kindle from Amazon.com. Since then (going on 6 DAYS AGO) Amazon STILL hasn't shipped it. That's right. My order purchase came to a whopping total of $259 and for that amount included free super saver shipping. Is "super saver" code for "this person's gonna get HORRIBLE service and have to wait FOREVER to even get what they ordered"? Really, I'm just curious. Had I known that I wouldn't have an e-reader right now (in my hot little hands) to enjoy, I WOULD have opted for The Nook. The differences between the two readers are SLIGHT at best (although I stick with that hinge being oh so cool! Barnes and Noble, LISTEN TO ME!).... but if Barnes and Noble's customer service is only minimally better than what I
