To Help You Through The Christmas Holiday

I've been going NUTS with the sweets! It's right before the Christmas holiday, and too soon after all that pumpkin and apple pie, we are well on our way to cookie season. HOW to stay on track during a time when there's bad (but oh so good) food everywhere? The protein shake can stay those cravings and satisfy that sweet tooth. I thought I would take a second and post my favorite Christmas protein shake recipes. Each of them uses the same vanilla protein shake base (I personally use Myoplex Lite, but you can use your favorite brand). Also, since I prefer a thicker shake, I have included the optional vanilla yogurt and ice cubes. Here's to staying good... the BEST way I know! psssst... I heard a rumor that Santa requested my Gingerbread Shake instead of the high fat milk and cookies.

Mochee Mint Shake
  • 1 serving vanilla protein shake powder
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon raw mesquite powder
  • 1/4 tsp decaffeinated instant coffee
  • 5 drops peppermint extract
  • 8 oz. water
  • 6-10 ice cubes (optional)
  • 4 oz. Yoplait light vanilla yogurt (optional)
Blend and serve. Note... if you are not a coffee fan, the coffee can be omitted for a wonderful Mocha Mint shake! ;)

Gingerbread Shake
  • 1 serving vanilla protein shake powder
  • Dash of allspice, nutmeg, clove and ginger (to taste)
  • 1 tsp. Maple syrup (NOT pancake syrup... use grade B organic maple syrup)
  • 8 oz. water
  • 6-10 ice cubes (optional)
  • 4 oz. Yoplait light vanilla yogurt (optional)
Blend and serve.

Coconut Cream Shake
  • 1 serving vanilla protein shake powder
  • Dash of allspice
  • Dash of raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp. Maple syrup (NOT pancake syrup... use grade B organic maple syrup)
  • 8 oz. COCONUT water
  • 6-10 ice cubes (optional)
  • 4 oz. Yoplait light vanilla yogurt (optional)
Blend and serve.

I hope you enjoy my holiday shakes and may they get us ALL through the holidays! ;) A special note: because I'm REALLY watching my caloric intake, I mix ALL protein shakes with water instead of milk. Feel free to follow package instructions when mixing your protein shake, possibly substituting skim milk for regular. Have fun with it... they taste great!

Thanks for the one stop shopping and one day I guess I will build up my nerves and buy the ingredients that you listed. I think I had some of the protein powder before and I did not like the taste but I might try it again!

Oh, you SHOULD give them a try. They taste WONDERFUL. Remember to add the spices "to taste", meaning, try it and if it needs more of anything (like allspice), add a little more until you like it. You really can't go wrong with all natural ingredients like spices and organic maple syrup.... it's really just about adding flavor. These shakes are a REALLY good source of nutrition, but more important... they are SO GOOD!<--- that statement doesn't have it's usual punch without my hand gestures! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Gorgous Leaves Bundle Revisited

Yestday's Freebie Friday on a Monday projects were so fun and this set is SO BEAUTIFUL in it's simplicity!  It reminds me of a long-retired stamp set from Stampin Up!.  I was inspired to re-create the projects that I made with it once upon a time.  So here we go.... SIMPLE projects when you need a quick "hello" or an even quicker heartfelt sympathy card: I was DEFINITELY on a Bumblebee and Cajun Craze kick yesterday!  I can't stop/won't stop!  LOL!  To be fair... I had extra leaves die cut and didn't want anything to go to waste!  A quick speckle backdrop in Bumblebee then a quick "hello" greeting from the Biggest Wish in Cajun Craze with the Cajun Craze leaf popped up on a Basic White cardbase.  PERFECTION! Okay, as with yesterday's projects, the sentiment is from the recently retired SAB Delicate Dahlia's set, but you could use ANY sympathy sentiment you have in your stash.  Unlike in the past when I had to mask off the center rectangle...

Got My Healthy Game On.... YO!

So, I've found some new fun in fitness.... the Wii! First of all, let me start by saying that when you change your lifestyle from sedentary to active, it is important to incorporate changes that will stick. And for me... this Wii will be sticking around for quite some time! The fact that this video game is played by your body movements alone should be winning the Pulitzer Prize for turning around the obesity epidemic in this country by introducing physical activity BACK into our kids lives! Whew! That was a super run on sentence! hahahaha! Earlier this week I got the balance board for the Wii. It included a game called Wii Fit. I have read quite a few reviews on the Wii Fit complaining that it doesn't include full exercise segments. In my opinion this game is lacking nothing because it is simply introducing fun exercise into our inactive lives and into our child's life . In a day and age when kids are typically found on their bottoms in front of a video game, eyes seemingly...
