It Really Is Saving My Life!

Ooooo ... purple!!!! As I was brushing this AMAZING color on my nails this morning, it hit me that there just could be more to this polish addiction than meets the eye. Now, some may think that I'm just trying to dream up a justification to run out and buy the new summer Color Club colors, but that just simply is not the case. I am trying to get a message out to possibly save a life; maybe even my own! hahahahaha ! On a serious note, I think I DO know what the sudden new attraction is to nail polish. For starters, it is a very cheap way to feel beautiful! Instead of spa treatments or new outfits, I buy a new nail polish (usually in the $2-$4 range). Nothing makes you feel more put together, for less, than freshly polished nails. Second, I think there is quite a bit of merit to the idea that color affects your mood. I tend to gravitate toward bright cheerful colors. But recently, I've been choosing deeper, richer colors. More calming maybe? Anyhow, color therapy is certainly no...

It Just Means So Much!

Well, today is my birthday! Yay me! And like most every birthday, my husband spends the day in the kitchen making me Lasagna. This lasagna is just about the most amazing birthday present I have ever received and I get it every year. The tradition started just a couple of weeks after my husband and I met. He found out my birthday was coming up and asked me what I wanted. I told him that he and I just met and that I couldn't accept a gift from him but that I really appreciated the thought. He insisted finally asking me if I wanted him to cook something for me. Ok, so he kicked the door WIDE open, how could I NOT test the waters?!? I smiled and said, "Lasagna. I would love lasagna." I knew that lasagna was pretty labor intensive and expected him to say that he couldn't do it, but instead, he smiled and proudly said, "Ok, lasagna it is!" My heart fell to the floor. I could not believe it. The day of my birthday, he took me to the store with him to "buy the ...

My New Green Thumb

It just amazes me what we can do and don't even have a clue. I never thought of myself as having a green thumb. Never really cared about plant life one way or another. I mean, I've received the traditional "house warming" house plant a time or two and killed every one. Then one day I bought a $3.00 fern at my local grocery store and decided that I was going to try and keep it alive. Boy did I ever. That thing grew and grew to the point that I had to transplant the sucker every other month because it would keep outgrowing the pot. My husband used to make jokes that he'd wake up in a cold sweat after having a nightmare that it's long shoots grew their way down the hall and wrapped themselves around his neck. I also remember that nothing could kill this fern. I only watered it, maybe, once a month and would forget to bring it inside the house during pretty intense weather. I think at some point I did not want to care for it anymore.... it was SO MUCH work to care...

"Beef" Stroganoff

Ok, here is my healthy version of Beef Stroganoff. This is actually a recipe that I came up with for the man who said that he was tired of all the "healthy" stuff I was making. What?!? My husband wanted meat and starch.... gotta love the meat n' potatoes men in our lives!!! So here it goes! And he has no idea it's good for him! LOL! My recipe is doubled so that I have left-overs for the following day as well as some to pack in a Food Saver bag to freeze. Always having home cooked healthy meals in the freezer is so convenient for days when I just don't want to cook! And this one is always a winner! "Beef" Stroganoff (This is a FitterTwit Original) 1 large onion 3 cloves garlic 2 containers sliced mushrooms 1 green bell pepper 2 pounds ground turkey browned in a splash of EVOO with onion, garlic and bell pepper. Set aside. 2 bags of extra wide Ronzoni Healthy Harvest noodles boiled with 2 Tbsp of EVOO in water to keep noodles from sticking, drain when ...

When!?!? Come On Already!!!

WHEN!!!!??? UGH!!!!! I want to see this movie soooo bad and have been hearing that it is going to be released since 2005! I can honestly say though, that my hopes are up this time. I checked the Internet Movie Database and saw promotional pix for the first time... yay! And they have also updated the release date to 2010. The last time I checked, the release date was 2008. Maybe, just maybe it's finally happening!?! I love the game and know that the movie is going to be every bit as good (has to be with all the time that they're putting into it!). I would SO love to know who's going to be The Cheshire Cat !!! I have loved Alice in Wonderland stories my whole life and own 4 versions of the movie.... yes, including the Disney animated feature ! I cannot wait to add this version to my collection. A scary verson of Alice in Wonderland.... I'm not really into scary movies, but am totally into Alice in Wonderland... oh, this is going to be great! We are all mad here!

Here I Go Again!

Why must I ALWAYS go against the grain??? :) John 15:5"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him will bare much fruit, for without me you can do nothing." What does this really mean? This is one of the first verses I ever committed to memory (still wriggling into my heart) years ago when I took the Experiencing God Study Course for the first time. It is an amazing Bible study that I highly recommend for anyone... but specifically for new christians . I wish I had known about this Bible study sooner. It was responsible for reconnecting me with God and really teaching me about God the Father instead of God the Deity, as this was all I ever knew him as up to that point. But this verse still pops into my mind every now and again as I ask: What is our dependence on God? I have been hearing a trend lately that is sending my skin crawling because I want to speak out, but I know it is completely inappropriate. But it is driving me crazy to hear people say...

2 Seconds To Chai Heaven

Anyone trying to get in shape knows that protein shakes are a MUST, especially if you're trying to get 5-6 meals in each day! And finding one that is quick and actually tastes good seemed like an impossible combination for me to find. Well, as I mentioned in a previous post , sugar free flavored syrups worked very well for me and got me experimenting with other "additives" that would make ANY protein shake mix taste great. I think I'm getting this down to a science and the treat in today's post is super simple and super delicious (see my side note for how I make it super quick too)! 2 Seconds To Chai Heaven 2 teabags of your favorite chai flavored black tea 8 oz. water Ice 1 serving of your favorite vanilla flavored protein powder - Steep teabags in 8 oz of boiling water (approximately 5 - 10 minutes until tea is very dark.... not exactly 2 seconds, but I had to get you to read this somehow! LOL). In a blender or shaker, mix tea with ice and protein powder. Enjoy ...
