Gather Together The Sequal: A Study of Masking

Okay... you all know by now how much Fall is my jam... and Stampin Up's Gather Together Bundle just speaks to my soul.  The leaves are PERFECTION!  Welp, this Freebie Friday features that perfection with some really fun masking techniques!

The first two are the easiest and use the exact same Drybrush backgrounds stamp.  The card on the left is the first generation stamp of Drybrush in Crushed Curry and the card on the right is the second generation of the same stamp.  Then I die cut the leaves on two sticky notes using both die cut sticky note leaves to mask on the card on the left and then the negative sticky note space to mask the leaf of the card on the right.  Then using the sponge brayer I sponged Merry Merlot (with Night of Navy on the outer edges: optional) on the card on the left and sponged early espresso on the card on the right.  Because the card on the left was first generation of the Drybrush background stamp, the image showed through creating the most pleasing streaks in the background.... LOVE!!!

Now, for the final masked card, I took the second negative space die cut and masked off the area of the card I wanted my words to show being sure to cover the rest of the card so ONLY the leaf would get the words stamps and then stamped away.   During the Facebook Live, I did decide after this card was completed that I wanted to quickly outline the leaf just to give it more dimension.  This card also feature a sneak peek of the stamp set that is being featured in the next week's Freebie Friday.... our CASING edition featuring Celebration Tidings.... stay tuned for that!  I think that line of leaves at the bottom is a nice touch to this card for sure.  As always, the free PDF is below the last pic in this post!  HAPPY STAMPING!

Past 7 Days....

Feeling Empowered

Yep... I've FINALLY discovered the MAGIC that is the Google Calendar!!!  I had NO IDEA that it actually synced to my phone!!!!  FREEDOM!  SWEET FREEDOM! Now for those of you who are NOT schedulers, let me tell you why schedules are so important and why this discovery, in particular, is so empowering to me. Schedules free your mind - when you get your thoughts out of your head and placed into some kind of order (or plan) on paper, your brain is not taxed with the job of remembering. Plans allow you to reach your goals quickly and efficiently - a plan maps out the best course to get you from point A to point B.  For example:  you know that you have to meet Judy on the west side of town for lunch, then be on the east side to pick up paperwork at the office, west side again to pick up flowers at the florist and finally north to pick up dry cleaning.  Well, planning your day allows your brain to go on auto-pilot.  All it has to do is f...

Gorgous Leaves Bundle Revisited

Yestday's Freebie Friday on a Monday projects were so fun and this set is SO BEAUTIFUL in it's simplicity!  It reminds me of a long-retired stamp set from Stampin Up!.  I was inspired to re-create the projects that I made with it once upon a time.  So here we go.... SIMPLE projects when you need a quick "hello" or an even quicker heartfelt sympathy card: I was DEFINITELY on a Bumblebee and Cajun Craze kick yesterday!  I can't stop/won't stop!  LOL!  To be fair... I had extra leaves die cut and didn't want anything to go to waste!  A quick speckle backdrop in Bumblebee then a quick "hello" greeting from the Biggest Wish in Cajun Craze with the Cajun Craze leaf popped up on a Basic White cardbase.  PERFECTION! Okay, as with yesterday's projects, the sentiment is from the recently retired SAB Delicate Dahlia's set, but you could use ANY sympathy sentiment you have in your stash.  Unlike in the past when I had to mask off the center rectangle...

My Seriously Yummy Concoction!!

The Magic Bullet has yet to fail me!!! I LOVE it! I whipped up this ultra healthy mousse in seconds, and the mint came straight from the garden. Yay! Here's how I made it. Danielle's Heavenly Mousse 1 small container of low fat vanilla yogurt (I prefer Yoplait Light) 2 heaping tablespoons of Knudson Free cottage cheese 1 tablespoon of Amaretto flavored Agave Nectar 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon 2-3 peeled and pitted organic figs (optional) In Magic Bullet container combine above ingredients. Attach flat whipping blade and mix until mousse has formed (about 45 seconds). That's it. If you are using figs (which will create a thicker mouse after it sets in the fridge and will require longer blending time), be sure that they are room temperature before blending. Blend with chopping blade, remove and attach flat whipping blade until smooth. Allow to set in fridge at least 30 minutes before serving. This thing is quick and incredibly yummy! Here is the pic of the ingredients I used. Cl...
