To Err Is Divine

The card pictured here is the result of a HUGE error! I started this card as a feature for the Stitch Challenge that ended up being cancelled over at The Town Scrapper because of our summer hiatus. But, while attempting to sew some stitches on the dress of this sweet little Sophie With Bear by Victoria Case, I accidentally sewed her legs right off.... good thing the challenge got cancelled... no telling who else could have been hurt! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

When I began this little sewing adventure, I didn't take into account that because the image is so small that the small stitches would actually act as perforations to inevitably sever this poor girls legs completely off. So after about a half an hour of rolling on the floor laughing, I FINALLY pulled myself together enough to figure out how I was going to fix this project. I KNEW I could salvage this; so I nixed stitching her dress (although you can still see SOME of the tiny stitching I did on her bodice) and turned this into a cameo of sorts. I used the stitches as the frame for the card and finished off with a stitched ribbon. WHEW! That was close.... and incredibly FUN!!! Figuring out how I was going to fix my mistake was more fun than actually fixing it. And let's face it, the sheer joy of making the mistake in the first place was worth the price of admission!!! :D

The next time you flub up on a project you're working on, don't throw it out.... work it out! Find a way to use that mistake and turn it into something divine! There's a life lesson in there somewhere too! ;)

The BEST Copic Storage

**** HUGE HALLOWEEN GIVE AWAY... CLICK HERE !!!!**** Ok, so I've done posts in the past about various Copic storage solutions, but I was given THE MOTHER of all storage ideas by my friends Jennie Black and Krista Koenig!!!   Let me share with you the construction of the storage box and then I'll finish this off with the BRILLIANT solution my husband came up with.... cuz I married a GENIUS!!! What you'll need to create the AWESOME storage box pictured here is: 1 Double Deep Art Bin 1 plastic grid for ceiling lighting (found at your local home improvement store) 1 half inch thick wooden square dowel (also found at your local home improvement store) Dimensional adhesive squares Wire cutters or sheers Screws with corresponding drill bit Drill So I first cut the ceiling grid down to 19 squares by 19 squares using my wire cutters.   You will need two 19 x 19 sections of grid material.   The wire cutters went through the plastic material of the grid like b...

Good Eggs

Well.... yesterday was THE BEST DAY EVER!!!  Not only did I score AMAZING card kits from Dove Art Studio's class yesterday, but I also got to hang out with some of my favorite people!!!  Now, truth be told, I spent just about the entire day (off and on) coloring the images you see pictured.   I don't typically spend that kind of time coloring three cards, but I was working on coloring the standard "Copic" method of coloring and it was HARD for me to change up my order of application, pressure, etc.  It was almost like I was a beginner all over again!!!  I really got a taste of what my coloring students go through.  So....here are three things to keep in mind when you sit down to color with alcohol ink markers: 1.  Know YOUR mechanics and the mechanics of the pens.  Alcohol ink is like no other medium I can think of.  The blendability of this ink is AWESOME but if you try too hard, you will not get the best these markers ha...

Out Of Pocket

So sorry to be MIA folks!!!! My niece gave birth this past Christmas (yes, a Christmas baby!) and 14 days later she collapsed unconscious. She was rushed to emergency and a blood clot was discovered. How can that be?!? She's only 18 years old!!! Needless to say, I'm totally in shock that this has happened. But because of this I will be out of pocket for a short while as I am spending as much time as I can with her and my family. PLEASE, for those who are prayerful, PLEASE pray for her speedy and complete recovery. Thank you... you all are always so wonderful!!!
